It's the same story for a lot of forums.

DreamInCode and Devshed folded and vanished.

Cprogramming, Codeguru and Daniweb are sleepy ghost towns of once highly active communities.

At some point in the past google decided that SO was the place to go and every other forum saw a cliff edge.

Now SO are squealing with the rise of chatgpt and the like.

What activity there is is mostly spambots.

Nowadays, I mostly live on Reddit.

I think the biggest reason is that people can't make an account..

That's certainly an issue here.

Over at Cprogramming, of the last 5000 signup attempts, approx 90% of them failed the first basic task of "clicking the link in the confirmation email".

We're not exactly fishing in the deep end of the pool here.

zapshe is right. New users don't receive any confirmation email so they can't start posting. :(

apart from these, this forum is on a blacklist at most active c++ sites because the c++ tutorial and learning sections are so far out of date. The warning is for the old info but it comes across as just don't visit the site.

Everyone seems to be on reddit now, though that forum took a big hit too because of some political thing that I don't even remember.
