Hey guys, I just started to learn C++ from yesterday so yeah, I'm the noob-ist guy in this forum =) After graduating college with an undergrad in Business management, I decided to learn C++ (I heard the voice from above lol).

Anyways, I'll be seeing you guys often so I wanted to say hi in advance =)

No really though, I think it's impossible for 99% of people to beat the nubliness of the nubliest on this forum. They're on their own league of nubliness, well below the means of a basic "Hello world" program. I don't think I could compete with that, even when I first started in Java.

It's easy to be noobish when you're tying to learn a language like Whitesapce. I can't even figure out how to tell it 'I'm done with this statement!'

hi guys, I'm new to c++ and have completed some studies about the program's syntax, understanding it to some extent , however can't seem to get my hands on a good compiler. I'll be grateful if you can be helpful to recommend a suitable compiler for the platform I'm using; a windows 7 home basic. thanks.

I'd recommend either MinGW-g++ or the Visual C++ compiler.

I'll make sure I'll keep up with my coding too. Speaking of reading/coding, I've been doing some research on books for beginners.

So far, I'm reading "C++ without fear" and borrowed a book from the library called "C++ Primer plus", by Stephen Prata, 1999 (its a bit old but fun).

I ordered a used book on Amazon "Absolute C++", the first edition - It was $3.00 =)
I have tons of free time these days so I'm hoping to learn C++ as intensively as possible.

Is there a book or website where I can get tons of hands on practices? Anything will be helpful =)

IIRC, "C++ Primer" is good but "C++ Primer Plus" is bad. At least I've heard so. Please correct me if I remember wrongly.
