Ubuntu 11.10 countdown almost 0

Umm, I don't know if this is a little last minute, but Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot is almost here.
I thought I'd spread the word with some who can probably appreciate a decent unix-like system

Right now the beta is out but I the release will have some of the kinks worked out.

edit: Agh. >.< The countdown is down. It'll probably be back up.

Here's a review.

It seems pretty decent for a media oriented pc.

I downloaded a daily build the other day and installed it, been running smooth since. It's in RC stage so it's fairly safe to install for people that like to install the newest everything everything, just be sure to install the daily build and not the beta 2 image.

First thing I did was replace Unity with Gnome-Shell, but other than that I'm loving it.
I had looked at the ubuntu website yesterday and was surprised that there seemed to be no mention of the new one coming out. And for 11.04 after playing about with unity for a day I changed it to classic mode never to look at unity again. But from a few of the reviews I've read it seems that they have really improved unity, so when I get round to getting 11.10 I'll have to give it a fair try again.
You know, I tried to install Gnome-Shell but it didn't display right. Any application run under it was fine, but gnome-shell it's self was broken.
Ubuntu 11.10 is available at the time of this posting...

Last time I tried Ubuntu it seemed to be more of a netbook OS heh heh distro, rather than for desktop PC's.
So I guess that's why you people replace its Unity UI with Gnome UI? Edit: I haven't tried it myself.

Ubuntu 11.10 does not work at all on my Lenovo Thinkpad W520 from any place other than the Live CD. That is, unless I specifically opt out of installing a few packages by using the Skip option when it's installing, it won't even boot.

Even then, my Centrino wireless doesn't work properly, and it seems that if I try to activate NVidia's graphics driver so that I don't have to rely on the integrated graphics chip (this computer is an Optimus system, but I turned the integrated graphics chip off using a BIOS utility that Lenovo provided <3) then the whole system will fail to boot the next time I start it up.

I think I shall move to OpenSUSE...
