Typical day, about 5-7 hours...but this is integrated between Photoshop and programming. I've been working on a web-based application for more than a year now and I finished it couple of weeks back but I'm doing a re-haul of the code and design so it's just taking me forever. But typical day, about 5-7 hours of personal programming. During university, its substantially more especially depending on whether I have a project due.
It depends on how the day went, sometimes I don't even bother, other times I'll be up til 4AM. So I would say that I spend between 0 and 4 hours per day.
During university time: between 0 - 4 hours.
No school but work: 2 - 6.
No school OR work (amazing): 4 - 16 (I spent almost my entire vacation from work programming :D)
Mind you, as others have said, this is also including time with GIMP etc.
If it helps I just got laid off from work yesterday =/ Now I can look for another job and program away with all my new free time while keeping an eye on the fun, something to keep me budy with!
I'm afraid to say that I too haven't been coding (seriously) for quite some time.. I got stuck on finding the map to install SFML in on my Mac and went off playing with applications and listening music. I plan on programming for real again after I learn some vector maths (heh :P) and installed SFML.

Sorry to hear that. What industry are you in? I've been through 2 layoffs and 2 acquisitions in the past 6 years which drove me back into consulting. I'll tell you this, the most my wife and I enjoyed life in a while was when I was unemployed. Sure there is the unknown and financial strains you face, but you have time to pursue activities you never would of been able to.
