Website does not work properly with Linux

Jan 23, 2025 at 1:05pm
Hi guys,
on my Linux machine (Ubuntu 22.04.05) the website does not work properly. I need to use the legacy version by clicking on the button at the top right for stuff to work, and even then the "preview" button when writing posts only shows empty boxes.

Is this a known issue?
I experience this for both Firefox and Chrome.

Cheers!

It is a known issue, and has nothing to do with your OS. The “new” site behaves differently than the “legacy” site.

I use the new site all the time, but for things like creating an account, you need to use the legacy site.

While that has reduced the amount spam we get, I guess, it has also all but killed the site, alas.

(Sorry, not going to look up the threads where this was discussed.)

That's a shame. This is my go-to place to learn C++.

You can still post, as you know, and while it may take a day or two longer than before, you will still get answers (and better ones, since those answering tend to be more knowledgeable old-timers).

This site has always had its problems, but I like it better than anywhere else as well.

True. hopefully it will not put off too many users.

Do you have access to information to say how long ago the last account was made on this site? As far as I know, account creation is effectively broken due to a confirmation email never being sent out. I guess I can try to re-test this when I get the chance using the old website, but I suspect it'll be the same result.

Ah, it seems my understanding of the problem is in error.

Sorry.
