What good are Microsoft Certificates?

Hello again, I have another question for you guys. I've been told by several instructors in my school that getting a Microsoft certificate such as Microsoft Excel 2015 certificate or Microsoft Access 2015 certificate (or any Microsoft-related certificate) could improve my chances of landing a job within the ICT industry by bolstering my resume. However, in order to do that I would have to take extra courses for at least 6 months in order for me to be able to pass the online examination for one of these certificates. Just asking, would you guys recommend?

Skip the Office certs, unless you want to be someones receptionist they aren't going to do you any good. The baseline certificate for Microsoft IT is the MCSE.
