I haven't used this particular PC with Visual Studio 2010 for several weeks, and my "Source Files" folder inside of the Solution Explorer is no longer producing a .cpp file; it instead shows a file icon that looks a bit like Notepad. When I right-click on that file to check its properties, it shows "Does not participate in build" next to "Item Type". Actually, I just looked in the project's folder that I just created, and there's no .cpp file, at all.
I'm not doing anything differently from when I last used this machine to code. This is very frustrating, and I'd very much appreciate any help.
I haven't used VS much, but I think, in the worst case, you can copy and paste the files under a different folder, then try to open it from File, Open, Project.
oh, don't forget, remove the check from Folder Options, Hide File Extensions. Some MS apps get confused without it.
